Takamatsu Beach is a beautiful coastline located at the southernmost tip of Kushima City, Miyazaki Prefecture. A defining feature of this location is the presence of Yogose Island, an uninhabited island situated just offshore. This island acts as a natural breakwater, shielding the shore from the heavy waves of the open ocean and maintaining exceptionally calm and tranquil waters. Furthermore, the seabed features a gentle, shallow slope, meaning the depth changes gradually. This makes it a safe and enjoyable environment for children and families who may not be experienced swimmers. The high level of water transparency offers a stunning, picturesque view that is truly breathtaking.

Takamatsu Beach has historically served as a popular recreational hub, utilizing the natural landscape for leisure. The peak swimming season typically runs from mid-July to late August. During this period, the bright daylight hours are optimal for swimming and marine activities in the transparent waters. Toward the evening, the area offers a beautiful spectacle as the sky changes colors during sunset. Please note that swimming is only permitted during specific seasonal windows, so be sure to check the official period before your visit.
The calm sea surface makes this an excellent location for various water sports, particularly Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP). Some local facilities may offer SUP board rentals and introductory lessons, allowing you to experience the sensation of gliding over the water. Additionally, by utilizing the adjacent Takamatsu Camping Park, you can combine your seaside experience with an outdoor camping adventure.
Directly next to Takamatsu Beach is the Takamatsu Camping Park, where you can enjoy picnics and overnight stays. If you are traveling by car, the "Shibushi Daikoku Irukaland" is a short drive away, offering unique experiences such as interacting with dolphins. Other sightseeing spots, such as Cape Toi, are also scattered throughout the surrounding area, making for a diverse travel itinerary.
When enjoying the beach, please prepare swimwear, rash guards, sandals, and sunscreen. Note that shower facilities (water only) are available for a small fee. Since the camping park is adjacent, you may want to bring leisure sheets or camping gear. As a matter of etiquette, please ensure you take all trash home with you and respect the rules of the camping park and designated activity areas.
