The Tada Silver and Copper Mine, located in Inagawa Town, Hyogo Prefecture, is a designated National Historic Site. This area once boasted a bustling silver mining district known as 'Ginzan Sanzenken' (Three Thousand Houses of Silver). The Yukuyo-no-Yakata museum serves as the center for learning about this history, displaying detailed maps, ancient documents, various ores, and traditional mining tools. History and Cultural Background

The region experienced immense prosperity during the Edo period and continued its industrial legacy through the Meiji era, during which operations were managed by Mitsubishi. In 1895 (Meiji 28), the 'Tada Mine' obtained mining patents under the leadership of industrialist Hori Tojuro Reizo. The mining operations continued through the Showa era under Nippon Kogyo and eventually closed in 1973 (Showa 48). To preserve this legacy, the site now functions as a museum and historical site. In 2015, the Tada Silver and Copper Mine Site was officially designated as a National Historic Site of Japan.

Yukuyo-no-Yakata Museum

You can observe different mining techniques, ranging from the hand-dug tunnels of the Edo period to the mechanized excavations of the Showa era. The path is equipped with lighting, ensuring a safe and atmospheric experience of the underground environment.

Yukyu Plaza

Developed in 2013, this plaza preserves the surface remains of the 'Hori Family Smelting Plant' built during the Meiji era. Visitors can see six distinct brick structures set against the backdrop of Mt. Nenriki. The area is divided into a multi-purpose zone and a historical exhibition zone.

The Aoki Mabu mine tour is available between 09:00 and 17:00. The interior is equipped with artificial lighting for safety.
