Soun Sanso is a magnificent Japanese garden located in Kashiwazaki City, Niigata Prefecture. It was originally the residence of Kenzo Iizuka, the founder of Kashiwazaki Gas, and the garden was meticulously designed in 1926 based on a six-panel folding screen painting by the artist Ito Buryo. The landscape is a harmonious blend of nature and art, featuring elements such as a central pond, stone lanterns, stone monuments, and an iconic drum bridge (taiko-bashi). Surrounded by diverse flora including red pines, azaleas, and Japanese maples, the garden offers a different, captivating expression with every season.
