Sugatani Tatara Yamauchi is a collective name for the district where people once lived and worked in the traditional Japanese ironmaking method known as "Tatara ironmaking." Located in the mountainous region of Unnan City, Shimane Prefecture, this site is famously known as one of the models for the "Tatara field" depicted in the animated masterpiece, "Princess Mononoke."
