The Sugeura Lakeside Village Landscape is situated in the 'Oku-Biwa Lake' area at the northernmost tip of Lake Biwa. On October 6, 2014, this area was officially designated as a National Important Cultural Landscape. A significant feature of this village is the 'Shisoku-mon' (four-legged gate) with its traditional thatched roof. This structure once served as a monitoring gate, serving as a historical testament to the role this region played in the past.
