Sobetsu Park is a scenic park located in Sobetsu Town, Uryu District, Hokkaido, situated on an elevated plateau overlooking the magnificent Lake Toya. The park covers a vast area of approximately 86,000 square meters, with about 20,000 square meters of its sloping terrain dedicated to roughly 300 Bungo plum trees. In spring, the sight of pale pink plum blossoms and cherry blossoms blooming simultaneously creates a breathtaking tapestry of color against the deep blue of Lake Toya and the surrounding mountains.
The area is characterized by a dynamic landscape shaped by volcanic activity. The vicinity of Sobetsu Town is home to many geologically significant sites where one can feel the raw energy of nature. Sobetsu Park has been developed as a sanctuary to appreciate seasonal flora within this unique environment. Please note that the park is effectively closed from November to mid-April, so plan your visit accordingly.

We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes, as the park features sloping terrain that requires careful footing. While the park entrance is free, it is helpful to have cash on hand if you use nearby facilities. English-language signage and staff support may be limited, so it is advisable to check maps or information in advance. Photography of the scenery is encouraged, but please respect the environment and follow local etiquette.
