Jogaya Tsutsumi is a renowned cherry blossom viewing spot located in Kitamoto City, Saitama Prefecture. The embankment is lined with approximately 60 Yoshino cherry trees, which create a magnificent, immersive tunnel of pink blossoms during the spring season. The most striking feature of this location is the vivid color contrast between the soft pink of the cherry blossoms and the bright yellow of the rapeseed flowers (nanohana) blooming at your feet, offering a view that is unique to this area.
The embankment itself has a long history, originally constructed during the Edo period to protect the surrounding farmland from flooding. In the post-war era, local community members planted the cherry trees, carefully nurturing them to preserve the natural beauty of the region. Today, it stands as a cherished symbol of spring and a testament to the harmonious relationship between the local community and nature.

The absolute highlight is the 'Cherry Blossom Tunnel.' As you walk along the curve of the embankment, the overhanging branches of the Somei Yoshino trees create a sense of being embraced by nature. The simultaneous blooming of the pink blossoms and the yellow rapeseed flowers provides a breathtakingly beautiful landscape that is perfect for photography and peaceful contemplation.
The peak viewing season is typically from late March to early April. During this window, the Somei Yoshino trees reach full bloom, offering the most spectacular scenery. We highly recommend visiting during the daytime when the sunlight enhances the vibrant contrast between the pink and yellow colors, making it an ideal time for photography.
Visitors can enjoy a relaxing stroll along the path through the cherry blossom tunnel. It is a perfect place to experience the gentle transition of seasons in a tranquil, natural environment, allowing you to feel the essence of a Japanese spring.
Nearby, you can explore other nature-oriented spots such as the Kitamoto Nature Observation Park and Takao Sakura Park. For those looking to relax after sightseeing, Onsen facilities like 'Kitamoto Onsen Yurakuno Sato' are located about 20 minutes away by car, perfect for refreshing yourself.
Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended for your stroll. Please respect the natural environment by taking all your trash home with you and following local etiquette. There are no special reservations or fees required to visit this public area.
