Shirarahama Beach, located in Shirahama Town, Kinomoto District, Wakayama Prefecture, is a breathtaking beach stretching approximately 620 meters. As the name suggests, it is famous for its brilliant white sand and a coastline lined with palm trees that create a stunning contrast against the emerald green sea. The sand is composed of 90% quartz, making it exceptionally fine and white. This unique landscape often evokes images of tropical destinations like Waikiki Beach. As one of Japan's top 100 bathing beaches, it attracts approximately 600,000 visitors annually, making it a premier tourist destination in the Kansai region.
The name 'Shirarahama' literally translates to 'White Sand Beach,' reflecting its most iconic feature. This beach has long been a symbol of the Shirahama area.
