Shiraito Falls is a spectacular waterfall formed by the melting snow of Mount Fuji. The water emerges from the boundary between the permeable Shin-Fuji volcanic layer and the impermeable Ko-Fuji volcanic layer. This creates a unique phenomenon where water seeps through the cliff face, creating a curtain of water. The waterfall cascades down a 20-meter high, 150-meter wide curved cliff, appearing like countless white silk threads—hence the name 'Shiraito' (White Thread). It is officially designated as a National Scenic Spot and a Natural Monument, and is also celebrated as one of the Top 100 Waterfalls in Japan.

While the area is open 24 hours, we recommend visiting during daylight hours to see the white threads shimmering in the sunlight. Early morning or evening visits offer a more serene and quiet atmosphere, though daytime is most common for sightseeing.
