Shiraito Falls is a spectacular waterfall formed by the melting snow of Mount Fuji. The water emerges from the boundary between the permeable Shin-Fuji volcanic layer and the impermeable Ko-Fuji volcanic layer. This creates a unique phenomenon where water seeps through the cliff face, creating a curtain of water. The waterfall cascades down a 20-meter high, 150-meter wide curved cliff, appearing like countless white silk threads—hence the name 'Shiraito' (White Thread). It is officially designated as a National Scenic Spot and a Natural Monument, and is also celebrated as one of the Top 100 Waterfalls in Japan.
The waterfall is a direct result of the natural spring water from Mount Fuji. This geological formation has been cherished by people for centuries due to its ethereal beauty. The historical and geological significance lies in the way the water emerges from the boundary of the volcanic layers, preserving a pristine natural landscape that serves as a precious cultural and natural asset for the region.
The most striking feature is the vast 150-meter wide curtain of water. The sight of hundreds of white threads flowing between the rocks is truly mesmerizing. The waterfall maintains a consistent flow of approximately 1.5 tons of water per second, with a stable water temperature of about 12°C throughout the year, making it a refreshing sight in any season.
Shiraito Falls is accessible year-round. Regardless of the season, the constant flow of Mount Fuji's spring water provides a beautiful view. While the area is open 24 hours, we recommend visiting during daylight hours to see the white threads shimmering in the sunlight. Early morning or evening visits offer a more serene and quiet atmosphere, though daytime is most common for sightseeing.
The primary activity here is observing the breathtaking natural landscape. By walking closer to the base of the falls, you can experience the refreshing mist and the sheer scale of the vertical cliff. Observing the intricate patterns of water flowing through the rock layers is a unique experience that can only be found at this specific location.

There are walking paths from the parking areas that lead visitors toward the viewing points.
