The Shin Yokohama Ramen Museum (often called 'Ra-Haku') is a food amusement park located in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, centered around the theme of 'Ramen'—one of Japan's most famous culinary exports. Based on the concept of 'tasting famous ramen from all over Japan without needing to board a plane,' the museum brings together renowned ramen shops from across the country.
The interior features a nostalgic atmosphere that recreates the streets of Japan during the early Showa era, offering visitors a sensation of traveling back in time. It is more than just a food court; it is a unique facility where food and entertainment merge, featuring exhibitions on the history of ramen and various hands-on programs to learn about Japanese culinary culture.
The facility aims to pass down the culture of ramen, a staple of Japanese food, to future generations. Beyond just eating, there are exhibition areas where you can learn about the history, production methods, and cultural significance of ramen, allowing visitors to truly feel the depth of Japanese food culture. In recent years, the museum has also focused on education and the promotion of food culture through the introduction of programs using traditional techniques.

The museum is divided into two main areas: an exhibition area and a dining area. On the first floor, the exhibition gallery allows you to learn about the evolution of Japanese food culture. Additionally, the museum shop offers exclusive merchandise that can only be found here.
As you step into the basement area, a nostalgic Showa-era cityscape unfolds. A variety of carefully selected ramen shops from across Japan line the streets, offering diverse flavors such as Shoyu (soy sauce), Miso, Salt, and Tonkotsu (pork bone). The area also includes traditional candy stores (Dagashiya), coffee shops, and small snack bars, allowing you to enjoy the nostalgic daily scenes of old Japan alongside your meal.
While the museum can be enjoyed in any season, the evening hours are particularly recommended. Spots like 'Izakaya Ryoji' and 'Kissaten & Snack Kateko' offer a more mature atmosphere where you can enjoy food paired with alcohol. Because the museum frequently hosts special events and limited-time ramen shops, every visit offers a chance for a new discovery.

The greatest charm of the museum is its interactive content that engages all five senses. For example, you can experience traditional noodle-making techniques like 'Aodake-uchi' to touch the essence of Japanese craftsmanship. There is also playful content like 'Sugomen Lab,' where you can create your own original cup ramen.
Furthermore, the underground event plaza occasionally hosts street performances and live shows, allowing you to enjoy Japanese entertainment while you dine. It is a complete experience of food, culture, and play.
The Shin Yokohama area is highly accessible due to its proximity to Shin-Yokohama Station, a major transportation hub. The area near the museum is surrounded by large commercial facilities, hotels, and event venues, making it an excellent base for sightseeing. It is a very convenient stop for travelers arriving via Shinkansen from distant regions.
We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes to enjoy exploring the facility. While the number of shops accepting credit cards and transportation IC cards is increasing, it is wise to carry some cash (coins/bills) for smoother transactions. For the exhibition and experience corners, we recommend checking availability in advance. Please be mindful of others in the crowded dining areas.
