Originally located in Yachigoji, the temple was later moved to its current location in Kitayama. The temple also played a significant role as the mausoleum for Yoshihiro, the third generation of the Date clan. Although some structures were lost during the Meiji Restoration, the temple remains a vital cultural heritage site preserved to this day.
