Shichirigahama has long been cherished as a natural part of the Kamakura landscape. The area encompasses several administrative districts, including Shichirigahama 1-chome through 5-chome. This region is blessed with the rich natural environment of Sagami Bay and is surrounded by many historic temples and shrines, making it a culturally significant area. While the specific coastal shape and environment mean it is not primarily designated for swimming/bathing, it serves as a premier destination for sightseeing and enjoying the majestic scenery.
The greatest charm of Shichirigahama is its expansive, open coastline facing the Sagami Bay. Along the coast, you will find various facilities and buildings where you can sit and enjoy the view. The expression of the sea changes beautifully depending on the season and time of day. Watching yachts and windsurfers is a common daily sight here. Additionally, the nearby Enoden (Enoshima Electric Railway) station offers a unique experience; the view of the ocean from the train window as you pass through Shichirigahama is one of the most iconic and beautiful railway journeys in Japan.
