Shichiri Mihama is a beautiful coastal area located in Owase City, Mie Prefecture. The most striking feature of this location is its vast pebble beach (礫浜, rekihama), which is composed of various sizes of grey and brownish stones rather than traditional sand. As the waves roll in, they create a gentle white foam that follows the soft curves of the coastline. This area serves as a perfect scenic retreat for those seeking relaxation and a connection with nature.
Shichri Mihama has long been recognized for its preserved natural beauty. The geographical conditions of the area are heavily influenced by the Kuroshio Current, which brings rich marine life and shapes the coastal environment. The coastline remains in its natural state, serving as a vital part of the local ecosystem and a testament to the untouched beauty of the Mie coastline.

The primary attraction is the expansive pebble beach and the breathtaking view of the surrounding coastline. The shifting patterns of the waves against the many stones create a dynamic and ever-changing landscape. Visitors can also enjoy several vantage points, including nearby roadside stations and observation decks, which offer panoramic views of the sea.
As a natural coastline, Shichiri Mihama is open to the public at all times and throughout the year. The best time to visit is between March and October. On clear, sunny days, the brightness of the sky and the clarity of the ocean surface create a truly spectacular and vivid scenery.
The area is also a popular spot for fishing enthusiasts. Due to the influence of the Kuroshio Current, the types of fish available can change, offering a unique experience for anglers. Additionally, visitors can enjoy leisurely sightseeing from the nearby roadside stations or observation decks to soak in the coastal atmosphere.
Directly adjacent to Shichiri Mihama is the 'Michi-no-Eki Park Shichiri Mihama' (Roadside Station). Accessing the beach is very easy, as it is located just a short walk across the bridge from the station. Nearby, you can also find the Fureai Beach area for further exploration.
Since Shichiri Mihama is a natural, unpaved coastline, it is highly recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes. Because the ground consists of pebbles rather than sand, walking can be uneven, so please be mindful of your footing.
