Overview and Charm

Settsukyo Gorge is a breathtaking scenic area located along the upper reaches of the Akutagawa River, which flows through the center of Takatsuki City, Osaka. Developed as a large-scale natural park, it offers a profound sense of tranquility despite its proximity to the city. Visitors can experience lush greenery, crystal-clear mountain streams, and beautiful waterfalls up close. It is a beloved destination for hiking, nature observation, and seasonal exploration.

History and Environmental Preservation

To protect the delicate ecosystem of the area, Takatsuki City has established specific ordinances regarding the preservation of the natural environment in Settsukyo Gorge. These regulations ensure that the area remains a safe and sustainable recreational space. For instance, activities such as barbecues and fireworks on the riverbanks are strictly prohibited to maintain the natural harmony and safety of the river environment.
