Sakuma Dam Lake Shinsui Park, located in Chosa Town, Aosa District, Chiba Prefecture, is a scenic park where you can immerse yourself in rich nature and beautiful lakeside landscapes. The greatest charm of this park lies in its diverse botanical displays that change with the seasons. From winter to spring, the blooming narcissus and cherry blossoms signal the arrival of the new season, offering a breathtaking sight to all visitors. The tranquil environment surrounded by the dam lake provides a perfect sanctuary to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and find true relaxation.
The area surrounding the Sakuma Dam Lake has a long history of coexistence with nature. Local residents and volunteers work diligently to maintain the landscape and provide information to visitors. For instance, efforts to improve English-language signage and the implementation of seasonal illumination events—such as the 'Yoritomo Sakura' and 'Bamboo Light' displays—are part of a community-driven initiative to share local culture with a wider audience, including international travelers. This deep-rooted culture of appreciating and preserving natural beauty is a cornerstone of the local community.

The park features various seasonal attractions. From winter to early spring, the 'Narcissus Path' offers a spectacular sight as the flowers bloom in abundance. In spring, the landscape is painted in shades of pink by the 'Yoritomo Sakura' and 'Somei Yoshino' cherry blossoms. A special highlight is the occasional night-time illumination event, which transforms the park into a mystical, dreamlike space. Additionally, the observation deck provides a panoramic view of the vast dam lake, making it an ideal spot for photography enthusiasts.
Each season offers a unique experience. Between December and March, the narcissus are in full bloom, offering a sense of early spring. During the cherry blossom season in spring, the park's picnic and exchange areas become lively spots for flower viewing (Hanami). At night, during specific periods (such as the Yoritomo Sakura season in early February), the illumination events allow you to enjoy a much more ethereal and magical atmosphere than during the day. We highly recommend checking the blooming status and event schedules before your visit.

There are various ways to connect with nature here. The park features a campsite that is available for use from May 1st to November 30th. Please note that for camping, a 'Chosa Town Municipal Park Facility Use Notification' must be submitted in advance. BBQ activities are also permitted, making it a wonderful place to enjoy lively moments with family and friends. Spending a slow, peaceful time in the heart of nature is a truly exceptional experience.
The park is situated in the beautiful natural environment of the Minamiboso area. Near the park, there are shops and rest areas that cater to seasonal events, where you can enjoy local specialties and light snacks. The area is also an excellent destination for driving or cycling tours, as the scenic routes leading to and from the park offer beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.

As this is a nature-rich park, we recommend wearing comfortable clothing and sturdy walking shoes, especially if you plan on hiking or camping. Regarding payments, please carry cash, as it may be required for parking fees or camping usage. For those planning to camp, please ensure you complete the necessary paperwork in advance. To protect the natural environment, please follow local etiquette, such as taking your trash home with you and respecting the local ecosystem.
