Play Park Gold Tower is a striking 158m structure located in Utazu, Kagawa Prefecture. Its exterior is uniquely covered with 6,917 gold half-mirrors that reflect the surrounding scenery, creating a shimmering effect. Following a major renewal in 2020, the tower introduced 'Sorakin,' a breathtaking 'Sky Aquarium' experience. The facility is designed as a multi-layered entertainment hub, featuring a 'Park' area with a castle-themed ball pool and various interactive play elements.
Originally completed on March 18, 1988, the tower has undergone several transformations over the decades. Currently managed by Sanuki Co., Ltd., the tower successfully transitioned from a traditional observation tower into a modern entertainment destination. The launch of the 'Sorakin' goldfish-themed aquarium in March 2020 marked a new era for the tower, blending architectural height with immersive aquatic displays.
The centerpiece of the tower is the 'Sorakin' Sky Aquarium, where visitors can enjoy mesmerizing aquatic displays high above the ground. For children, the 'Park' area offers endless excitement, including a ball pool with a castle-shaped structure and a whale-themed slider. As night falls, the tower becomes a beacon of light. The illumination color changes based on the next day's weather forecast: the tower glows blue if rain is expected, and turns a warm yellow if the weather is expected to be clear, providing a dynamic visual experience.
The nighttime illumination offers a spectacular view to end your day. Because the colors change based on weather patterns, the atmosphere of the tower shifts beautifully depending on when you visit. On weekends and holidays, the facility remains open until 22:00, allowing for late-night leisure and dining experiences.
