The history of Ozu Castle traces back to the Jizo-ga-take Castle built by Utsunomiya Toyofusa, the protector of Iyo Province, during the late Kamakura period. Over the centuries, the site was developed into a significant fortress by famous lords such as Kobayakawa Takakage, Toda Katsutaka, Todo Takatora, Wakisaka Yasuharu, and Kato Sadayasu.
