The greatest charm of Oura no Tanada is the dramatic change in scenery throughout the year. From late March to April, you can witness the preparation for rice planting alongside the delicate beauty of cherry blossoms. In mid-to-late April, the area is adorned with peonies, followed by the peak bloom of peonies in early to mid-May. In mid-August, the landscape transforms again as the golden hues of mature rice stalks appear during the harvest season. The observation deck offers a high-angle view, allowing you to fully appreciate the elegant, curved lines of the terraces.
To experience different facets of this landscape, consider visiting at different times of the year. Spring (late March to May) is particularly spectacular, as the blooming of cherry blossoms, peonies, and peonies creates a colorful tapestry. Summer (mid-August) offers a view of active agricultural life during the harvest. While there is no specific time requirement, visiting during daylight hours is highly recommended to clearly see the intricate structures of the terraces and the vibrant colors of the flora.

It is approximately a 20-minute drive from JR Karatsu Station, making it easy to combine this visit with other sightseeing spots within Karatsu City.

While the observation decks are well-maintained, the surrounding paths are actual farmland and can be uneven; comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended.
