The park is composed of two significant archaeological sites: the 'Otsuka Ruins,' representing a settlement, and the 'Sai Kato Ruins,' representing a burial area. The Otsuka and Sai Kato ruins are renowned as sites of life during the mid-Yayoi period. The Otsuka site is a remnant of a moated settlement where approximately 100 people are believed to have lived about 2,000 years ago. The surrounding moat served a defensive role against intruders. Meanwhile, the Sai Kato site served as the burial ground for the residents of Otsuka. It features distinctive graves known as 'Hokei Shuko-bo' (square-grooved graves), which provide insight into the burial culture and views on life and death of that era.
