The Oshiro-zaka Shidarezakura refers to a group of three Benishidarezakura (pink weeping cherry trees) located on the Namioka family estate along the slope leading to the Miharu Castle ruins in Miharu Town, Fukushima Prefecture. Also known as the "Namioka Estate Cherries," these trees bloom in perfect harmony with the surrounding landscape. With an estimated age of 350 to 500 years, visitors can feel the profound presence of nature that has been nurtured over many centuries.
These cherry trees are situated on the path leading to Shiroyama Park, which contains the Miharu Castle ruins. The trees are located on the private property of the Namioka family, a site that has preserved its historical character for generations. This landscape is a cherished part of the local natural heritage. Miharu Town is famous for the Miharu Takizakura (one of Japan's three great weeping cherries), and the Oshiro-zaka Shidarezakura serves as another beautiful symbol of the region's rich natural culture.
The most striking feature is the three Benishidarezakura trees standing along the slope. One particularly large and well-formed tree stands out with a commanding presence against the scenery. The peak bloom typically occurs in mid-April. We recommend visiting during this time to see the blossoms fully opened. The main activity is a peaceful walk along the gentle slope of Oshiro-zaka. Since it is located on the way to the Miharu Castle ruins, you can easily extend your visit by walking toward Shiroyama Park to explore more of the area's historical landscapes. It is a perfect place for a slow-paced, relaxing moment surrounded by nature.
Nearby, you can find the famous "Miharu Takizakura," one of Japan's three greatest weeping cherry trees. There are many other cherry blossom spots scattered throughout Miharu Town, making it easy to explore by car. From Miharu Station, you can access the area via bus or car, allowing you to enjoy the local history and beautiful scenery.
