Ose Beach is a beautiful coastal destination located in Nishiura Eri, Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Because it faces an inner sea, the waves are exceptionally calm, providing a safe and relaxing environment for water activities even for beginners. The most striking feature is the magnificent view of Mount Fuji rising over the ocean. Furthermore, due to its exceptional water quality, it has been selected as one of the 'Top 100 Excellent Water Bathing Beaches' by the Ministry of the Environment. It is a highly popular spot for diving enthusiasts and attracts many visitors throughout the year.
This region has long been celebrated as a scenic area with breathtaking views. The location, offering a direct view of Mt. Fuji, has drawn people to this coast for centuries. In 2006, its high water quality and environmental beauty were officially recognized when it was selected for the Ministry of the Environment's 'Top 100 Excellent Water Bathing Beaches' list. Beyond being a simple leisure facility, the area has a history of welcoming tourists while maintaining a deep respect for and protection of its natural environment.
The greatest charm of Ose Beach is the sight of Mount Fuji standing majestically beyond the horizon. On clear days, you can capture the stunning contrast between the deep blue sea and the white peak of Fuji in photographs. The water depth, topography, and high transparency also make it a top-tier destination for snorkeling and scuba diving. Observing the underwater ecosystem is a unique experience found only here. The beach offers a pleasant sense of openness, with a sandy shore approximately 50 meters wide and a coastline of about 360 meters.
The beach is primarily open during the summer season (around July to August). To make the most of your marine activities, it is best to visit during the official operating hours (e.g., 09:30–16:00). The morning hours are particularly recommended, as the sea is often calm and the air is clear, allowing for a crisp, unobstructed view of Mount Fuji. During the bright daylight hours, the water transparency is at its peak, providing excellent visibility for snorkeling and diving. As evening approaches, you can enjoy the beautiful changing colors of the sky over the ocean.
A variety of marine leisure activities can be enjoyed here by utilizing the natural terrain. Representative activities include snorkeling and scuba diving, where you can observe diverse marine life within the transparent waters. The calm waves also make it a great place for experiencing SUP (Stand-Up Paddleboarding). You can plan your activities through various nearby leisure facilities and specialized shops.
There are several spots nearby where you can feel the local nature and culture. For instance, you can visit Ose Shrine, located on a hill overlooking the sea, or see the 'Gindo Monument' which reflects the local poetic culture. After enjoying a stroll along the coast, you can enjoy fresh seafood at local eateries such as 'Hamayu Shokudo.' Ose Beach is also conveniently located near other famous sightseeing destinations in the West Izu area, such as Koganezaki and Dogashima.
When enjoying swimming or marine sports, please prepare essentials such as swimwear, sandals, and sunscreen. For safety, wearing a life jacket is highly recommended. Regarding payments at nearby facilities, while many places accept credit cards or transit IC cards, it is wise to carry cash for smaller shops. To protect the environment, please ensure you take all your trash home with you and respect the designated activity areas. For activities like diving that require booking, we recommend checking with local shops in advance.
