Omiya Daini Park is an expanded area of the Omiya Park complex, located on the eastern side of the Minuma Rice Field area in Saitama City. Opened in 1980, the park serves a dual purpose: acting as a flood control measure for the Shiba River and maintaining a rich, diverse natural environment. The greatest charm of this park lies in its seasonal botanical transformations. Most notably, it is home to approximately 650 plum trees, including varieties such as red, white, weeping, and wild plums, which create a breathtaking spectacle of blossoms every spring. Beyond just sight, the park is designed to engage the senses, offering a tranquil space where visitors can feel the essence of nature through touch and scent.
The history of the Omiya area is deeply rooted, dating back to the completion of the 'Suisui-ro' rest house in 1885 (Meiji 18). Omiya Daini Park was developed in 1980 as part of an expansion plan for the original Omiya Park. Historically, the area was developed around regulation sites for the Shiba River's flood control. The park also played a significant role in regional greening efforts, notably serving as a main venue for the '5th National Urban Greening Fair - Green Harmony Saitama '87.' Today, it stands as a symbol of the harmony between urban development and natural preservation, located right next to the historic Omiya Park.

There are several unique spots that captivate visitors. The most famous is the 'Plum Festival' in spring, where the sight of 650 blooming plum trees is truly awe-inspiring. Another exceptional feature is the 'Scent Road,' established in 1996. This area is specially designed so that everyone—including people with disabilities—can experience nature through sight, touch, and smell, making it a truly inclusive and unique sensory space. Additionally, the park features the traditional Japanese tea house 'Soraian,' where you can enjoy a moment of Zen in a quiet, natural setting.
The best time to visit is during the spring, specifically from mid-February to March, to witness the 'Plum Festival.' Visiting during the peak bloom ensures you see the park at its most vibrant. For the best experience, we recommend walking during bright daylight hours to clearly perceive the colors and scents of the plants. As evening approaches, the park offers a much deeper sense of tranquility and peace.

Visitors can enjoy a deep connection with nature through sensory-focused walks. The 'Scent Road' offers a unique experience that is hard to find in other parks, allowing you to smell the blossoms and feel the textures of various plants. The vast grounds are also perfect for leisurely walking or nature observation. It is an ideal spot for families and friends to relax and breathe in the fresh air of the changing seasons.
The park is located right next to the main Omiya Park, which features a small zoo with various animals, birds, and reptiles. To the north lies the municipal Owada Park. The areas are well-connected via pedestrian paths and footbridges, allowing for a smooth and enjoyable journey through multiple green spaces.

As the park is a natural environment, we recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes.
