Okichan Theater is a specialized facility for dolphin shows located within the Okinawa Ocean Expo Park (National Okinawa Memorial Park). Against the backdrop of Okinawa's magnificent ocean, Bottlenose dolphins and Spinner dolphins showcase their incredible athletic abilities through high-speed jumps and synchronized dances. More than just a visual spectacle, the show includes educational commentary on dolphin biology and behavior, offering visitors a deeper understanding of marine life.
The Okinawa Ocean Expo Park was developed following the 1975 Okinawa International Ocean Expo. As a key facility within this historically significant park, Okichan Theater has long played a vital role in communicating the richness of Okinawa's marine culture and natural biodiversity. Through the sight of dolphins living in Okinawa's waters, the theater fosters a sense of wonder and respect for the ocean's ecosystem.

The greatest thrill is witnessing the dynamic movements of the dolphins. Their powerful leaps above the water, rhythmic dances, and even vocal interactions are truly awe-inspiring. Because the shows include explanations about their natural habits, guests can learn about the intelligence and lifestyle of these creatures. The visual experience is enhanced by the stunning scenery of the emerald green sea and clear blue sky, making it a perfect setting for photography lovers.
While the theater is enjoyable year-round, visiting during Okinawa's sunny seasons makes the blue of the ocean appear even more vivid, providing excellent photo opportunities. Shows are typically held five times a day (10:30, 11:30, 13:00, 15:00, and 17:00). The clarity and color of the sea change depending on the light in the morning versus the late afternoon, offering a different atmosphere each time. Please check the official website for any seasonal changes in schedules.
Beyond watching the main show, you can explore various marine-related interactions in the surrounding area. For instance, nearby facilities sometimes offer opportunities to learn more about dolphin feeding. The park also features the Sea Turtle House and Manatee House, allowing you to experience the richness of Okinawa's oceans through multiple perspectives in one visit.
Near Okichan Theater, you will find many world-class attractions, including the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium. Facilities like the Sea Turtle House, Manatee House, and the Tropical Dream Center are within walking distance, making it easy to spend an entire day exploring the park. The nearby Emerald Beach area also offers beautiful coastal scenery and a relaxing atmosphere.
As this is an open-air facility, we recommend bringing a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun. Since there is a high possibility of getting splashed by water, wearing clothes that can get wet or bringing a waterproof case for your smartphone and electronics is highly recommended. To protect the animals, please never throw any objects into the pool. Even small items can be dangerous if swallowed by the dolphins. Please arrive early, as seating may be limited during peak times.
