The Oita Prefectural Art Museum (OPAM), located in Kotobuki-cho, Oita City, is a public institution where urban functionality meets artistic expression. Regardless of the season, the indoor environment is strictly controlled to ensure a comfortable viewing experience. Visiting during the evening hours allows you to avoid the daytime crowds.
Beyond viewing art, parts of the facility are available for rent, including study rooms and ateliers, subject to specific terms and procedures. Educational programs and guided observations may also be available, though prior application is often required for school-based educational visits. The museum is conveniently located near 'Oasis Hiroba 21' and Oita Station. It is approximately a 15-minute walk from JR Oita Station, or a very short walk from the 'Oasis Hiroba-mae' bus stop. The surrounding area is a highly accessible urban district with various amenities nearby.
To protect the artworks, photography restrictions may apply in certain areas. While standard casual attire is perfectly fine, we recommend wearing comfortable shoes for walking through the galleries. Please note that cash may be required for purchasing tickets for special exhibitions. Additionally, the EV charging stations (CHAdeMO) in the underground parking lot only accept specific coins (new 500-yen coins are not accepted, and banknotes are not accepted).
