Noshi Park is a vast recreational and sports park located in Nishi-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido. The land has a significant history, having previously served as the Hokkaido Agricultural Experiment Station under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (now the Agriculture and Food Industry Research Center). In 1992, the site was officially designated as an athletic park. The park features several specialized zones for different activities. A standout is the 'Twin Cap,' an all-weather indoor sports facility covering approximately 3,000m², which allows visitors to stay active regardless of the weather. Other highlights include a baseball field (Field A) equipped with night lighting, tennis courts, and a dedicated 'Chapu-Chapu Plaza' where children can enjoy water play. Depending on the season, visitors can also enjoy the beautiful natural scenery surrounding the facilities.
Activities at the park vary significantly by season. During the summer months (June to September), the 'Chapu-Chapu Plaza' becomes a popular spot for children to play in the water. In the winter (early December to mid-March), the area may even be used for walking skis, depending on snow conditions. While some facilities open as early as 5:00 or 6:00 AM, please check the specific schedules for the arena or lighting availability in advance.
There is no shortage of things to do at Noshi Park. You can enjoy indoor sports at the Twin Cap arena or outdoor activities like baseball, tennis, and gateball. For those looking for a more relaxed experience, Nordic walking poles are sometimes available for free loan within the Twin Cap facility, making it easy to stroll through the park. The park also caters to families with its children's play areas and a traffic corner designed for practicing bicycle riding.
The park is situated in a peaceful part of Sapporo's Nishi-ku, near the Kotoni-Hassamu River, offering a refreshing natural environment. While the park is accessible via public transportation, please be aware that parking lots can become quite crowded on weekends and public holidays, so plan your travel accordingly.
To make the most of your visit, please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. For those using the indoor arena or outdoor sports courts, athletic wear and proper sports shoes are essential.
