Nachi Beach, famously known as "Blue Beach Nachi," is a breathtaking seaside destination located in Nachikatsuura Town, Wakayama Prefecture. The beach is characterized by its vast, beautiful sandy shoreline stretching approximately 800 meters. During the summer season, it becomes a lively hub for many visitors seeking sun and sea. One of its greatest advantages is its exceptional accessibility, as it is located right next to JR Nachi Station, making it an easy destination for travelers using public transportation.
The area around Nachikatsuura has long been blessed with abundant natural resources, and the beach has been a beloved spot for seaside leisure for generations. The region is also famous for its local delicacies, such as Kumano Beef, creating a unique area where beautiful nature and rich food culture coexist. This beach serves as a vital recreational center for the community, drawing crowds every summer to enjoy the coastal lifestyle.
The most striking feature is the expansive 800-meter stretch of sandy beach. The contrast between the light beige sand and the crystal-clear blue ocean creates a sense of immense openness and serenity. During the summer, the beach is monitored by safety staff to ensure a secure environment for swimmers. For convenience, changing rooms are located in two areas: the West side (Tenma side) and the East side (Nachi Fishing Port side).
The beach is officially open during the summer season, primarily in July and August. Standard swimming hours are from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Please note that the changing rooms close at 5:00 PM. Outside of the peak summer months, the area remains a beautiful spot for walking along the shore and enjoying the coastal scenery. On clear days, the view of the blue sea against the white clouds is truly spectacular.
During the summer opening period, visitors can enjoy swimming in the refreshing ocean. However, to ensure safety, certain activities such as fishing, surfing, scuba diving, and jet skiing are strictly prohibited within the designated swimming zones. Additionally, to maintain order and safety, the use of large tarp tents is prohibited. It is a place designed for relaxed, peaceful time by the sea.
Around Nachi Beach, you will find the lush, natural beauty of Nachikatsuura. The area is also renowned for its local specialty, "Kumano Beef," which can be enjoyed at various local restaurants. We highly recommend exploring the local gourmet scene as part of your visit to the coast.
When visiting, please bring swimwear, a change of clothes, and towels. Changing rooms are available on both the east and west sides. During the summer, parking is available for a fee of 500 JPY. Please be aware that camping, barbecues, the use of large tarp tents, and driving motorcycles onto the beach area are strictly prohibited. Please ensure you dispose of all trash in the designated bins and follow the instructions of the safety staff, staying within the designated swimming areas.
