It is a designated National Scenic Spot and a Natural Monument, forming part of the Unzen UNESCO Global Geopark (Unzen Amakusa National Park). The coastline is characterized by continuous cliffs reaching up to 100 meters in height, featuring a variety of rock formations created by centuries of wave erosion.
