The Moto Arakawa cherry blossom trees are a renowned scenic spot located along the Moto Arakawa River in the Kamazuka district of Konosu City, Saitama Prefecture. The landscape is defined by approximately 500 Yoshino cherry trees that line both sides of the river for a distance of about 2.6 km. This location has been officially selected as one of the '700 Famous Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan,' making it an iconic landmark for the region.
The Moto Arakawa River has a rich history, once serving as the main channel of the Arakawa River. Today, it serves a dual role in supporting local agriculture through its irrigation functions. The area is also known for its commitment to preserving the natural environment, notably as a habitat for the Musasi-tomiyo, a unique species. The river landscape is dotted with various bridges and weirs, reflecting a long-standing cultural relationship between the local community and the water.

The most striking feature is the continuous path of Yoshino cherry trees along both banks of the river. During the spring, these 500 trees create a breathtaking tunnel of pink blossoms. A special highlight occurs during the peak season when traditional lanterns are lit in the evening, allowing visitors to experience the enchanting atmosphere of 'Yozakura' (night cherry blossoms) which offers a completely different mood from the daytime scenery.
The primary season to visit is spring (March to April), coinciding with the blooming of the Yoshino cherry trees. For the best experience, visiting during the evening is highly recommended when the lantern illuminations are active. You can enjoy a peaceful stroll along the riverbanks during the day and witness the magical, illuminated scenery as the sun sets.

Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along the well-maintained riverbanks, immersed in the changing colors of nature. The area offers a sense of openness and tranquility. Because there are several bridges (including pedestrian bridges) crossing the river, you can also enjoy unique perspectives of the cherry blossom canopy from elevated viewpoints.
The Moto Arakawa river basin is home to several other beautiful cherry blossom spots. Nearby areas such as the vicinity of Yawata Bridge in Shiraoka City or the riverbank park near Tsubaki-yama in Hasuda City also feature beautiful rows of cherry trees. Additionally, the nearby Iwatsuki Castle Ruins Park in Saitama City offers a wonderful blend of historical atmosphere and seasonal beauty.
