Minoh Falls (Minoh Otaki) is a magnificent waterfall selected as one of the 'Top 100 Waterfalls in Japan.' Located in the Meiji no Mori Minoh Quasi-National Park in Osaka, the falls drop approximately 33 meters, offering a different, captivating expression with every season. The name 'Minoh' is said to derive from the way the water flows through the trees, resembling a traditional straw raincoat (mino). This site is one of Osaka's premier natural spots, attracting visitors year-round with its concentrated natural beauty.
The area has a long history as a site for Shugendo (ascetic mountain worship). The surrounding landscape is steeped in a culture of reverence for nature. For instance, stone monuments featuring poems praising the beauty of the falls are placed nearby, showing the site's long-standing love from poets and scholars. Additionally, a monument dedicated to a police chief who lost his life during a heavy rain event in 1951 serves as a reminder of the powerful and sometimes harsh side of nature. It is a place where natural beauty and historical depth intersect.

The greatest highlight is the sight of the grand waterfall emerging from a backdrop of lush greenery or vibrant autumn colors. The mist rising from the basin and the way sunlight dances on the water's surface create a scene of pure natural art. The walking paths leading to the falls also offer opportunities to observe seasonal plants and a rich ecosystem that was once known as one of Japan's top insect habitats. In autumn, the contrast between the white cascading water and the brilliant red and yellow leaves is truly spectacular.
While beautiful year-round, the best time to visit is during the autumn foliage season (September to November). The entire mountain transforms into a tapestry of red and gold, adding spectacular color to the waterfall. Visiting during the daytime when sunlight is strongest allows you to see the water sparkle and mist glow. Conversely, early morning visits are much quieter and less crowded, offering a peaceful environment to listen to the sounds of the forest.

The approximately 2.8km path leading to the falls is an ideal route for hiking and walking. While the path is relatively gentle, walking through the forest allows you to enjoy nature observation, including seasonal plants and insects. After your walk, you can also experience relaxation at nearby hot spring facilities like Minoh Onsen, combining nature with wellness.
Minoh Park offers many attractions beyond the waterfall. Nearby, you can visit historic temples such as Takian-ji and Katsuo-ji. The area is also suitable for families, with educational facilities like insect museums. Along the path from Minoh Station to the falls, you will find various restaurants and souvenir shops, making it easy to take breaks during your stroll.

Comfortable clothing and walking shoes (such as sneakers) are essential for your stroll. Although the paths are well-maintained, please be mindful of changes in surface conditions due to weather.
