Matsue Shrine is a historic sanctuary situated in the Ninomaru area of the Matsue Castle ruins in Shimane Prefecture. It is famously known as the site where the 'Kito-fuda' (prayer tablets), which played a crucial role in the designation of Matsue Castle as a National Treasure, were discovered. The history of this shrine traces back to the establishment of 'Rakusan Shrine' in 1877 by local supporters of the former Matsue Domain. This unique structure connects the Honden (main sanctuary) and the Haiden through a space called the 'Ishi-no-ma' (stone room). The Honden itself is a historical structure dating back to 1628.
