Matsudayama Herb Garden is a beautiful park located in Matsuda Town, Ashigara Kami District, Kanagawa Prefecture. Situated at an altitude of approximately 200 meters, the garden features a south-facing slope beautifully planted with various herbs and flowers. A standout feature is the unique cylindrical-shaped Herb Hall, which serves as a central landmark. From this elevated position, visitors can enjoy an expansive, breathtaking panoramic view that stretches across the Sagami Bay and the vast Ashigara Plain.
The facility is operated as part of the Nishihata Park area. The garden is meticulously maintained to preserve a landscape centered around herbs and flowers, ensuring a harmonious coexistence with the local natural environment and the seasonal rhythms of the region.
The garden offers vast spaces filled with blooming herbs and seasonal flora. The central architectural highlight is the Herb Hall, characterized by its distinctive cylindrical design. There are specific vantage points within the garden where the view of the Sagally Bay coastline and the Ashigara Plain is most spectacular. The garden paths are designed to follow the natural terrain, providing a pleasant walking experience through the greenery.
The landscape changes beautifully with the seasons. The best times to visit are during March, April, May, June, September, and October, when the plant life is particularly vibrant. For the best experience, we recommend visiting during daylight hours to fully appreciate the wide-open panoramic views.
In addition to the botanical displays, the area around the Herb Hall includes small shops and workshop facilities. Occasionally, special events such as animation screenings are held. During certain-specific events, the Herb Hall may even be opened with reserved seating for a premium viewing experience.
The area around Matsuda Town is rich in natural beauty. The surrounding landscape is dotted with various highlands and scenic spots that allow visitors to deeply connect with nature and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the countryside.
If you are arriving by car, please note that there is a parking fee of 500 JPY per use. We recommend carrying cash for this purpose.

For certain special events (such as those held in conjunction with the Ashigara Fireworks Festival), advance reservation via telephone may be required to access the Herb Hall.
As the park is located on high ground with natural paths and slopes, we highly recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes.
