The Former Moji Mitsui Club is a historic Western-style building located in the Moji Port Retro district of Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture. It is officially designated as a National Important Cultural Property. Built in 1921 (Taisho 10) as a social club for Mitsui Bussan, the building utilizes the traditional European 'half-timbered' architectural style. After the war, it was owned by the Japanese National Railways and used as the 'Motei Kaikan.' In 1990, it was relocated and restored to its current site. Today, it is carefully preserved as a significant historical landmark and is recognized as a Modernization Industrial Heritage site, representing the crucial historical value of Japan's modernization process. Once a venue for hosting global dignitaries, it now shares its storied past through its restaurant and exhibition rooms.
