The Former Iwata Family Residence, located in Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture, is a significant historical residence that preserves architectural styles from the late Edo period through the Bunka era (around 1800). The building was donated to Hirosaki City by Mr. Natsushiro Iwata in 1981. Its most striking feature is the preservation of its original structural elements, including the pillars, roof framing, and the massive thatched (kaya-buki) roof. While there are various theories regarding the exact construction date, the structure's characteristics suggest it was built during the late Kansei era or the Bunka era.
