Kurohime Kogen Snow Park is a medium-sized ski resort located on the eastern slope of Mt. Kurohime, one of the five famous peaks of Northern Shinshu, in Shinano Town, Nagano Prefecture. Its greatest strength lies in its incredibly friendly environment for beginners, families, and especially dog lovers. The wide, open slopes offer a sense of freedom and a warm welcome to all visitors. A standout feature is the 'Snow Dog Area,' which allows you to enjoy the snow alongside your pet—a unique experience rarely found at traditional ski resorts.
Mt. Kurohime has long been celebrated for its rich natural environment. This area has developed into a premier winter resort by leveraging its characteristics as a heavy snowfall region. The course layout is designed to suit different skill levels: the upper sections feature terrain for intermediate to advanced skiers, while the lower sections are optimized for beginners and families. While the area once featured more challenging high-altitude courses, it has successfully transitioned into a specialized resort that prioritates safety and enjoyment for families and beginners, creating a harmonious way to experience the local nature.

There is something for everyone at Kurohime Kogen Snow Park. Beginners and children can enjoy wide, gentle slopes that provide a sense of security and immense fun. For those looking for different types of movement, the resort also features official Japan Ski Instructors Association cross-country skiing courses (3km and 5km). Beyond the snow, the view is a masterpiece: gaze upon Lake Nojiri in front of you, and the majestic peaks of Mt. Myoko to the north and Mt. Iznawa to the south, creating a luxury landscape that is truly one-of-a-kind.
The peak season is from December to March. January and February are particularly special, offering high-quality powder snow thanks to the heavy snowfall characteristic of the region. We recommend active snow play under the bright daytime sun, followed by a peaceful moment in the late afternoon to admire the quiet, snow-covered scenery. Additionally, the area offers a year-round charm; for example, the 'Kurohime Green Garden' area allows visitors to enjoy seasonal flowers once the snow melts, making it a destination for all seasons.
Beyond skiing and snowboarding, a variety of winter activities await. Children can immerse themselves in snow play areas or indoor playlands, providing a way to enjoy the resort even when it's cold. The dedicated 'Snow Dog Area' is a highlight for travelers who want to include their pets in their winter adventures, ensuring the whole family (including four-legged members) can create memories together. The resort also offers convenient rental services for those traveling light and well-equipped food & drink areas to relax between activities.
The area around Kurohime Kogen is dotted with attractive sightseeing spots. The beautiful Lake Nojiri is nearby, offering various seasonal leisure activities. The resort also serves as an excellent base for exploring the Myoko and Obasute areas of Nagano. For those looking to stay longer, there are accommodations like 'Doggo Village' within walking distance of the slopes where you can stay with your pet.
As this is a high-altitude plateau, extreme cold protection is essential. Please bring a thick jacket, gloves, a hat, a neck warmer, and waterproof snow boots. Even if you are not skiing, waterproof and non-slip shoes are highly recommended for walking on snow. Please check in advance regarding payment methods and rentals. When visiting with your dog, please ensure you use a leash and follow proper waste disposal etiquette to maintain a pleasant environment for all guests.
