Koreyama Park (Shonan-daira) is a scenic park located on a 181m high hill on the border between Hiratsuka City and Oiso Town in Kanagawa Prefecture. Formerly known as "Senjashiki," it is now widely known as "Shonan-daira." The park is designated as one of the "50 Scenic Views of Kanagawa" and one of the "Eight Views of Hiratsuka," designed specifically to allow visitors to enjoy the natural landscape and atmosphere. The summit area features a rest house, providing a perfect environment to relax while enjoying the surrounding scenery.

This area has long been celebrated for its rich natural beauty. Since its designation as a scenic park in the 1959 urban planning project, continuous efforts have been made to preserve its landscape. The 181m summit maintains its natural topography, serving as a vital community space for both locals and tourists. Ongoing maintenance ensures that the area remains a place to enjoy recreation while strictly protecting the natural environment.

Main Highlights

The park is divided into two main areas: the "Shonan-daira Zone," focused on scenic views, and the "Asama-yama Zone," focused on deep nature exploration. The summit of the Shonan-daira Zone offers a beautifully maintained observation area with a sweeping view of the Shonan coastline. Additionally, in March 2024, new playground equipment was installed, creating a wonderful environment for children to play in nature. This includes a three-seat swing and sensory-based composite play equipment, making it a great destination for families.

Koreyama Park offers different charms throughout the seasons. The spring (March to May) and autumn (October to November) are particularly beautiful and ideal for hiking and walking. Visiting the summit rest house during daylight hours allows you to enjoy the striking contrast between the blue sky and the ocean. The observation area is accessible following the rest house operating hours.

For nature enthusiasts, there are seven well-maintained hiking routes ranging from beginner-friendly paths to more challenging trails in the Asama-yama Zone. At the summit, children can enjoy the newly installed three-seat swings (standard, disc, and harness types) and sensory-based composite equipment designed to engage the five senses. Furthermore, free binoculars are provided at the observation deck, allowing you to observe distant landscapes in detail.

Surrounding Area

The area around the park is dotted with historical walking routes. You can explore paths such as the route connecting Korai Shrine and Oiso-shuku, or the Asahi Shopping District, allowing you to experience local culture after your hike. The nearby Shonan Coast Park also offers a blend of mountain and sea attractions.
