Kottaro Wetland Observatory is a nature-rich observation spot located within the Kushiro Shitsugen National Park in Hokkaido. Situated along Prefectural Road 1060, the area offers a stunning view of the Kushiro River meandering through the landscape. Once you climb the stairs to the elevated observatory, a vast, unobstructed wetland landscape unfolds before your eyes. This location provides a unique perspective to witness the primitive, untouched beauty of nature from a high vantage point.
This area is part of the Kushiro Wetland, one of Japan's largest wetlands and a precious natural environment designated as a special protection zone within the National Park. The surroundings of the Kottaro Wetland are renowned for preserving their original, wild state.
