The Keshima España Cruise is a sightseeing boat tour set in the breathtaking Ago Bay of Shima City, Mie Prefecture. The large sightseeing ship, 'Esperanza,' is designed with the motif of a 'Carrack'—a type of ship that flourished during the Spanish Age of Discovery—distinguished by its vibrant and striking hull. From the spacious, open-air decks, you can enjoy the panoramic views of the unique rias coast of Ago Bay and the many rafts used for pearl cultivation. The interior is adorned with classical decorations, providing a sense of elegance and a perfect escape from the ordinary.
Ago Bay, the route of this cruise, is renowned as the birthplace of pearl cultivation. With a history spanning over 130 years, the sea surface is still dotted with rafts for cultivating Akoya pearls. While glass 'vendome' beads were used in the past, modern plastic floats are now the standard. This traditional landscape of pearl farming remains a unique cultural sight that continues to fascinate visitors to the region.
The greatest charm of the cruise is the open observation deck of the Esperanza. From the 3rd-floor open deck, you can witness the calm waters of Ago Bay, the intricate coastline, and the scattered islands. The arched openings on the stern gallery deck also serve as beautiful, antique-style photographic frames. For a more luxurious experience, the 2nd floor features the 'Isabella' special suite, which offers a private space with its own observation deck and binoculars. Additionally, the 2nd-floor cafe area provides soft drinks and alcoholic beverages for your enjoyment.
The cruise operates year-round, offering different charms depending on the season. From spring to summer, the contrast between the bright sunlight, the blue sea, and the lush green islands is particularly beautiful. Please note that there is a maintenance period around January and February (approximately 2 weeks) for the large vessel 'Esperanza,' during which smaller boats are used instead.

Nearby attractions include the Ise Grand Shrine (a UNESCO World Heritage site), 'Okage Yokocho' with its historic streetscape, the Spanish-themed amusement park 'Shima Spain Village,' and the 'Yokoyama Observatory' which offers a sweeping view of Ago Bay. The area also features luxury resorts and hot spring facilities, making it ideal for a combined stay-and-sightseeing trip.
Since the ship features open decks, we recommend bringing hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun. Cash and credit cards are accepted at the 2nd-floor cafe. Please arrive at the port at least 15 minutes before the departure time. Pets are not allowed on board. As cruise schedules may change or be canceled due to weather or sea conditions, it is important to check the latest information in advance.
