Kamegamori Rindo is a paved forest road located in Ino Town, Akaichi District, Kochi Prefecture, spanning approximately 27 kilometers. It is affectionately known by locals as the 'UFO Line.' This name is said to be a play on the high peaks (Yūhō) and the frequent reports of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) in the area. The route follows the ridge of the Ishizuchi Mountain Range at altitudes ranging from 1,300 to 1,700 meters. While the road does not have a center line, it is fully paved, allowing you to enjoy the unique high-altitude scenery through your car window.
This region is a vital part of the Ishizuchi Mountain Range's geography. Kamegamori is a peak reaching 1,897 meters, and the surrounding area features monuments related to the headwaters of the Yoshino and Kamo Rivers, as well as the Shikoku Mountain Monument, blending natural beauty with history. The area gained wider recognition after being used as a filming location for a Toyota Corolla Sport commercial in 2018, highlighting its stunning landscapes. The most striking feature of Kamegamori Rindo is the unobstructed, wide-open view. In areas where the northern view is open, you can see as far as the Seto Inland Sea and the Pacific Ocean. As you drive, you will feel the presence of the Ishizuchi Mountain Range and peaks like Higashikuro, Nishikuro, and Iyo Fuji, which stand at approximately 1,800 meters. While there are no specific observation decks, occasional large parking areas offer breathtaking bird's-eye views of the surrounding mountains. Routes passing through Shirasa Pass and Yosakoi Pass provide a truly high-altitude experience.
The scenery changes dramatically with the seasons. In spring, you can see the blooming of Azaleas and Rhododendrons; in summer, the lush greenery is vibrant; and in autumn, the landscape is painted with brilliant fall colors. These seasonal shifts are perfect indicators for choosing when to visit. However, please be aware that the road is closed during the winter (typically from November 30 to late April), making it essential to check the opening period. Visiting during bright daylight hours is ideal, as the contrast between the blue sky, green mountains, and seasonal foliage is most vivid.

Near Kamegamori Rindo, you will find famous mountains such as Mt. Ishizuchi, Higashikuro, and Nishikuro. The road provides access from Ino Town in Kochi Prefecture and connects toward Ehime Prefecture to the west.
