The Kawazu Sakura Trees Promenade is a renowned path featuring the Kawazu cherry blossom, known for its early blooming. Spanning approximately 4km along the banks of the Kawazu River in Kawazu Town, Shizuoka, the path is lined with about 800 Kawazu cherry trees. A key characteristic of these blossoms is their early blooming season, typically reaching peak beauty around February. The striking visual contrast between the vibrant pink of the cherry blossoms and the bright yellow of the rapeseed flowers (nanohana) at your feet creates a breathtaking landscape that captivates visitors.
The original Kawazu cherry tree was sourced from the banks of the Kawazu River near Hoeisen Bridge in the Tanaka area of Kawazu. This area is nestled in a rich natural environment fed by the waters of Mount Amagi. The landscape is carefully maintained to harmonize with the local nature, serving as a cherished seasonal destination that brings people together every year.
The greatest appeal is the seamless integration of the cherry blossoms with the river scenery.
