Kawanakajima Kosenjo Historical Park, located in Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture, is a historical site that preserves the memory of significant events from the Sengoku (Warring States) period. It is famously known as the battlefield for the 'Battle of Kawanakajima,' where the legendary leaders Takeda Shingen and Uesugi Kenshin clashed. The park features a 12,000-square-meter grassy area with a landscape of rolling hills, a small stream lined with natural stones, and traditional thatched-roof gazebos (azumaya). It serves as both a historical landmark and a peaceful relaxation spot for local citizens.
This location is one of the most significant battlefields of the Kawanakajima battles during the Sengoku period. Specifically, it is part of the Hachimanpara area, believed to be where Takeda Shingen established his main camp. At the adjacent Hachiman Shrine, bronze statues depicting the legendary single combat between Takeda Shingen and Uesugi Kenshin are installed, playing a vital role in visually communicating the intensity of the combat to visitors. This site is carefully preserved as a precious cultural heritage of the region.

Please note that parking lot hours vary by season: from March 1st to November 30th, it is available until 21:00; from December 1st to the end of February, it is available until 17:30.

For pet owners, there is a dedicated dog run where you can spend time with your canine companions. The park also features playground equipment for children and an outdoor stage, making it an ideal destination for families.
