Kariusu Kogen Bungeo Plum Orchard is a unique destination located on a high-altitude plateau in Shintoku, Hokkaido. It is famously known as the "Miracle Orchard" because it successfully cultivates approximately 1,000 Bungeo plums in a cool climate where plum cultivation is typically considered difficult. Visitors can enjoy the sight of white and pink blossoms spreading across the landscape toward the end of May.
The orchard exists due to a rare and specialized cultivation environment that allows plum trees to thrive in high-altitude conditions. For many years, this location has been cherished as a place that expresses the transition of seasons through ivory-colored blossoms, harmonizing beautifully with the local natural environment. There are no shops or restaurants located within the orchard itself. Please prepare any food or drinks in advance. If you use nearby facilities, we highly recommend carrying cash.
English signage and guidance are limited. It is helpful to have a translation app ready on your smartphone.
No prior reservation is required. You are free to enter the orchard at your convenience.
Because the orchard is located at a high altitude, temperatures may be lower than in the lowlands. Please bring appropriate clothing, such as a light jacket, and wear comfortable walking shoes for your stroll.
Photography of the scenery is permitted. Please follow local rules to help preserve the natural environment.
While standard restrooms are available, there are no wheelchair-accessible toilets on-site. Please be mindful of uneven surfaces and steps while walking.
