Kankyo Geijutsu no Mori is a vast private forest spanning approximately 10 hectares on the southwestern slopes of Mt. Sarei in Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture. The concept behind this space is to minimize artificial structures and bring humans closer to the essence of nature. The facility features both short and long courses, making it an ideal environment for forest bathing and nature sightseeing. The highlight is the autumn season, when roughly 10,000 maple trees transform the landscape into a vibrant tapestry of color, creating a stunning contrast against the sky.
History & Cultural Background
The origin of this forest is deeply rooted in the personal journey of its founder, Masaaki Tsuruta. In 1980, following the loss of a beloved family member to illness, Mr. Tsuruta began to reflect deeply on environmental issues and the vital importance of air and nature. Driven by the belief that 'by planting trees and purifying water and air, we can revitalize the earth, rivers, and seas to protect people,' he utilized the mid-slope of Mt. Sarei as a canvas. Through the careful placement of stones, soil, and trees, this forest of autumn colors was born. The name 'Kankyo Geijutsu no Mori' (Forest of Environmental Art) embodies his wish to preserve and maintain the sublime beauty of the natural world.

The park features several spots that showcase the artistry of nature:
*Fuyu Sanso**: A highly popular photography spot where you can see the reflection of fresh greenery or autumn leaves on exquisite lacquer tables. Coffee and other beverages are available for takeout here.
*The Pond**: When the wind is still, the water surface acts as a mirror, reflecting the surrounding scenery. During the autumn season, the water appears to be dyed in shades of red.
*Wooden Bridge**: Beneath the wooden bridges, seasonal fallen leaves flow through the streams, adding to the natural landscape.
