Kamoshiki Shiroyama Historical Park, located in Kamoshiki Town, Yamaguchi Prefecture, is a place where nature and history exist in perfect harmony. The greatest allure of this park is the seasonal transformation of its flora. It is particularly renowned as a location where visitors can witness the simultaneous blooming of early-flowering Kawazu cherry blossoms and vibrant yellow narcissus. The sight of these natural colors spreading out against the backdrop of the calm Seto Inland Sea provides a profound sense of tranquility to all who visit.
This area has a long history as a vital point for maritime transportation. The surroundings of the park feature structures with deep historical roots, allowing visitors to feel the passage of time and the local heritage. Elements of the past, such as buildings once used for hosting guests or as lodging, remain as part of the current landscape, adding a layer of cultural depth to the natural scenery.

The park offers different beautiful vistas depending on the season. The most striking sight is the collaboration between the Kawazu cherry blossoms and the narcissus. Approximately 190 Kawazu cherry trees spread their pink branches over roughly 4,000 yellow narcissus bulbs. This intense contrast of pink and yellow is exceptionally beautiful and makes the park a premier spot for photography. Additionally, the panoramic view overlooking the Seto Inland Sea is a major highlight of this park.
The most recommended time to visit is early spring. During the period when the Kawazu cherry blossoms and narcissus reach full bloom, the "Shiroyama Historical Park Cherry Blossom Festival" is held. During this festival, food stalls offering local delicacies such as udon noodles and amazake (sweet fermented rice drink) may be available, allowing you to experience the changing seasons with all your senses. While the daytime offers bright sunlight to highlight the vivid flowers, the evening provides a peaceful atmosphere alongside the calm sea.

Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls through nature. Walking along the well-maintained paths while admiring the seasonal flowers is a precious way to forget the hustle and bustle of daily life. During special events, you can also encounter local food culture through various street stalls. Activities primarily center around photography against the natural backdrop and relaxing while gazing at the peaceful sea.
There are several spots around the park where you can feel the history and nature of Kamoshiki. For example, you can visit historical sites like the "Shikaidoro" or enjoy the coastal scenery. Nearby, you can also find hot spring facilities like "Kamoshiki Kaikyo Onsen Hatoko-no-yu" and roadside stations (Michi-no-Eki) that showcase local charms, making it easy to plan a perfect day trip.
As the park is a natural environment, we recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. Since you may feel the sea breeze even in early spring, it is best to wear clothing that is easy to layer.
