Uenoyama Park is a scenic urban park located near the Ikaho Onsen area in Shibukawa City, Gunma Prefecture, situated near the summit of Mt. Monoki. It is exceptionally easy to access as it is adjacent to Mihari Station, the summit station of the Ikaho Ropeway. The highlight of the park is the panoramic view from the 'Tokimeki Deck' observation platform. From here, you can see the sprawling streets of the Ikaho hot spring town below, with the majestic mountain ranges of Mt. Yugami, Mt. Hotaka, and Mt. Akagi visible in the distance. The park is a place where the changing expressions of nature throughout the four seasons can be truly enjoyed.

The park is designed to maximize the visual experience for visitors. The 'Tokimeki Deck' is the most important spot, offering an unobstructed view of the surrounding mountains and the hot spring town. In spring, vibrant azaleas bloom beautifully, and in autumn, the surrounding trees turn into a rich tapestry of colorful foliage. Additionally, it is a famous spot for viewing the beautiful night scenery, where the lights of the hot spring town create a magical atmosphere. Even in winter, the scenery offers a unique seasonal charm related to the surrounding facilities.
The park offers different charms depending on the season. In spring (around April to May), the azaleas are in full bloom, creating a colorful landscape. In autumn (around October to November), the autumn foliage is spectacular, painting the mountains in vivid colors. Regarding the time of day, daytime visits allow you to see the fine details of the mountains under clear skies, while visits from evening to night offer a romantic view of the twinkling lights of the hot spring town. The expression of the landscape changes completely depending on when you visit.
The park is an ideal environment for a relaxing stroll. Most visitors come for the scenic viewing at the observation deck and to rest amidst nature. During winter, activities can be enjoyed depending on the local environment. The process of taking the ropeway to reach the summit is itself an enjoyable part of the experience, offering views during the ascent. Spending time in the silence of nature, gazing at the mountain ridges and the town below, provides a peaceful moment away from daily life.
Right next to the park is the Mihari Station of the Ikaho Ropeway. Using this station allows for smooth access from the foot of the Ikaho Onsen area to the mountain summit. The surrounding area is the heart of Ikaho Onsen tourism, featuring various hot spring accommodations, historical architecture, and walking paths. The area is rich in natural beauty, allowing you to fully enjoy both the hot springs and the natural scenery.
Since the park is located near a mountain summit, please prepare according to the season. It is highly recommended to bring warm clothing or an extra layer, especially in winter or if the weather changes, as temperatures can drop. While some areas are paved, comfortable walking shoes are recommended for navigating natural paths. As this is a public space, please remember to take your trash home and respect the natural environment. While there is no entrance fee for the park itself, please note that fees may apply for the ropeway usage.
