Standing at an altitude of 800 meters, the tree reaches a height of approximately 6 meters. What makes this tree truly extraordinary is its natural resilience; it spreads its branches wide and stands firmly against wind and snow without the use of any artificial supports or pillars. From early to mid-May, the tree becomes adorned with large, striking blossoms of a deep, intense red color.
This location has long been significant to the local community, serving as a landmark for fishermen and a sacred mountain for spiritual observation. A shrine sits atop the 800m plateau, offering a serene atmosphere and a panoramic view that overlooks Miyako City and the vast Pacific Ocean. This site is also recognized as part of the 'Sakura no Satsuo' (Cherry Blossom Pilgrimage) along the Tohoku Dream Sakura Road, connecting various sacred cherry blossom spots.
