Mt. Kagobou (Kagobouyama) is a mountain with an elevation of 223.2m located in the Hitatsudake Hills of Osaki City, Miyagi Prefecture. The greatest charm of this location is the overwhelming landscape of cherry blossoms that unfolds during the spring season. Because the elevation is relatively low at 224m, access to the summit is quite easy, providing a sense of openness and a deep connection with nature.
The area surrounding Mt. Kagobogu has long been cherished as a scenic spot rich in nature. Today, it is developed as the 'Osaki City Kagobou Natural Park,' featuring facilities designed for nature conservation and recreation. Additionally, the summit area serves as a regional information infrastructure, housing broadcasting relay stations such as the Wakaya Digital TV relay and the Osaki FM station.
The highlight of Mt. Kagobou is undoubtedly the 'carpet of pink' that covers the mountain slopes. Various types of cherry blossoms, including Somei-Yoshino, Yaezakura (double-flowered cherry), and Beniyama cherry, are planted here. Because these varieties bloom at slightly different times, visitors can enjoy a prolonged period of beautiful floral scenery. Furthermore, the summit offers a spectacular 360-degree panoramic view, allowing you to look north toward Mt. Kurikoma, east toward the Zao mountain range, and even see the distant Pacific Ocean.
The most recommended time to visit is from mid-April to early May. During this period, the sight of the entire mountain being filled with cherry blossoms is truly breathtaking. The changing scenery as the blossoms transition from Somei-Yoshino to Yaezakura is one of the many charms of this location. While you can observe the vibrant pink colors under bright daylight, a clear, sunny day is best for enjoying the expansive views from the summit.
There are various activities to enjoy the natural environment around Mt. Kagobou. For instance, you can enjoy a relaxing time at the park golf course surrounded by nature. Near the summit, there are management and rest facilities where you can take a break during your nature walk. Additionally, at the foot of the mountain, you can relax at 'Kagobou Onsen Sakura-no-yu' to soothe your muscles after hiking or exercising.
Located in the northern part of Osaki City, the area is dotted with scenic spots rich in nature. The Tajiri area of Osaki is characterized by a lifestyle and tourism that harmonize beautifully with the natural environment. The vicinity also features various recreation facilities such as hot springs, parks, and golf courses, making it an ideal environment for a nature-filled stay.
Cash is generally required for using the park golf course, hot spring facilities, and rest areas. Since the availability of credit cards or IC cards varies by facility, please check in advance.
English signage and staff support at surrounding facilities may be limited.

There are some uneven surfaces and slopes within the park, so caution is required for wheelchair users.
