Kadokawa Musashino Museum is a stunning five-story multi-functional cultural facility that seamlessly integrates the functions of a library, a museum, and an art museum. The building is a masterpiece of modern architecture, designed by the world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma. It serves as a hub for disseminating culture through books, art, and pop culture. Under the supervision of influential figures such as editorial engineer Seigo Matsuoka and naturalist Hiroshi Aramata, the facility offers a deeply intellectual and sensory cultural experience.
Grand opening took place on November 6, 2020. Operated by the Kadokawa Cultural Promotion Foundation, the museum's mission extends beyond mere book reading; it aims to actively broadcast and preserve culture. With a legacy of leadership involving figures like Seigo Matsuoka and Akira Ikegami, the museum creates a unique cultural space that bridges academic perspectives with contemporary pop culture. Please note that books are for in-library reading only and cannot be checked out or taken home.
The most striking feature is the architectural design by Kengo Kuma. The museum is open from 10:00 to 18:00 (last entry at 17:30). The museum is located within the 'Tokorozawa Sakura Town' area in Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture. It is approximately a 10-minute walk from JR Higashi-Tokorozawa Station on the Musashino Line. The facility also provides parking for those traveling by car via the Kan-etsu Expressway (Tokorozawa IC). From Tokorozawa Station, bus options are also available.
