Kachidoki Bridge is a historic bascule bridge spanning the Sumida River in Chuo City, Tokyo. Completed in 1940, it was once celebrated as the "finest movable bridge in the Orient" due to its grand scale. Today, it is recognized for its immense technical value as one of the few remaining bascule bridges in Japan and was designated as a National Important Cultural Property in 2007. Historically, this bridge served as a vital transport link between Tsukiji and Tsukishima, opening and closing to allow ships to pass.
