Inage Seaside Park is a massive coastal park located in Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture. Its most distinctive feature is the presence of 'Inage no Hama,' the first artificial beach in Japan. Spanning 1,200m in length and 200m in width, this vast artificial coastline serves as a major leisure hub easily accessible from urban areas. The park is a multi-functional space that integrates a yacht harbor, ball games, tennis courts, multi-purpose plazas, and a museum that preserves local history. It is an ideal location for a wide range of activities, including swimming, picnics, sports, and cultural learning.
The foundation of the park, 'Inage no Hama,' was a project designed to restore the sandy shores lost due to land reclamation. Completed between 1975 and 1976, it holds the distinction of being the first artificial beach in Japan, and the second in the world after the Monte Carlo Larvotto coast in Monaco. Additionally, the 'Inage Memorial Museum,' established in 1984 to commemorate the completion of the Inage Seaside New Town development, provides exhibitions that tell the story of the region's growth and evolution.
The park features a diverse array of facilities. First, the expansive 'Inage no Hama' becomes a bustling beach destination during the summer, supported by a professional life-saving system for safety. Second, the Inage Memorial Museum offers permanent exhibitions on the first floor, meeting spaces on the second, and a stunning observation room on the third floor with a 300-degree panoramic view of the ocean. Nearby, visitors can experience traditional Japanese culture at the 'Kaiseian' tea house located within the Japanese garden. The summer season (swimming period) is the most vibrant time, with many visitors enjoying the beach under the watchful eyes of the life-saving club. From spring to autumn, the lawn and picnic areas are popular spots to relax and feel the sea breeze. The evening is a particularly beautiful time to visit, as the scenery over the ocean and the wooden decks changes beautifully with the setting sun. Please note that BBQ facilities have specific operating periods and times that must be checked in advance.

The area around the yacht harbor is perfect for marine leisure, while the sports facilities like tennis and soccer fields cater to active enthusiasts. For those interested in dining, the BBQ facilities (reservation required) allow cooking using specialized equipment, as open flames are prohibited. The park is situated near the Makuhari New City area, which is rich in shopping malls and business facilities.
