Idemitsu Culture Park (also known as Tomakomai Civic Cultural Park) is a vast, comprehensive park located in the heart of Tomakomai City, Hokkaido. Designed around the themes of "Water, Greenery, and Sun," the park integrates a rich natural environment with essential social and educational facilities, including a library, an art museum, and the Sun Garden (botanical garden). The landscape is beautifully crafted with artificial waterfalls, fountains, water channels, and a dedicated 'Sculpture Path,' making it a versatile destination for recreation and relaxation.
The park was originally planned as a "Citizen's Forest" to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the city's founding in 1973. It holds the distinction of being the first 'Culture Park' designated by the Ministry of Construction. In March 2016, a naming rights agreement was signed with Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd., and since April 1, 2017, the park has been widely known by its current name, Idemitsu Culture Park.
The park offers a stunning blend of natural landscapes and artistic structures. The rhythmic movement of fountains, artificial waterfalls, and flowing water channels adds a dynamic energy to the scenery. Visitors can enjoy an outdoor art experience along the 'Sculpture Path,' where various works are displayed in a natural setting. While the park is beautiful throughout the year, the period from May to August is highly recommended. During these months, the greenery is at its most lush and the water features create a refreshing atmosphere. For those seeking tranquility, the evening hours offer a peaceful environment to unwind amidst the sounds of nature.
Idemichi Culture Park is equipped for various physical activities and leisure. The grounds include multi-purpose plazas, tennis courts, basketball courts, and even a park golf course. There are also areas designed for water play and sections equipped with outdoor fitness equipment. Beyond physical activity, the park serves as a cultural hub where visitors can engage in intellectual pursuits at the art museum or the library.

Due to the vast size of the park, we highly recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. If you plan to explore the water-themed areas during the summer, please bring a hat and plenty of drinks to protect yourself from the sun.
Photography of the general scenery is permitted. However, please respect the specific rules regarding photography of art exhibitions or inside certain cultural facilities.
The park features paved paths and multi-purpose areas, but please be aware that some sections may have uneven terrain or slight steps. We recommend checking specific routes if traveling with a wheelchair.
